Networking in Columbus Ohio

My employee Matt Nye and I just returned from a very successful business trip to Columbus. Our two day stay was to meet with some clients and partners, as well as to go to some great networking events.

On Wednesday afternoon Matt and I met with Kathy Rausch, owner of TekMiss design company in Columbus. She was at a LocalAdLink meetup and we stayed after to discuss partnering with her on some website development projects. Kathy had some great insight on social media and we spoke a bit about networking in Columbus. I look forward to working with Kathy in the future.

Wednesday evening Matt and I headed to the Big Fish networking event in the arena district downtown Columbus. At the event we ran into many of our close networking friends (Umang Patel, Gino Petiti, Karri Hill, and Randy Daniels). The event was right outside of Bucca de Bippo's italian restaurant and they sponsored the event. There was free "beer tasting" which immediately snagged by attention and apparently also snagged the attention of some homeless folks from the nearby vicinity as well. In addition to the beer tasting there was some free pizza and meatballs from Bucca de Bippo, it was good stuff despite the funny cousine name. The Big Fish event probably had somewhere around 150 people in attendance and cleared out when the rain presented itself.

On Thursday morning we visited the Dublin Entreprenurial Center (DEC) to do some co-working at the "Jelly" event. This event is sponsored by Tech Columbus. The event had a pretty small turnout, but those who did attend were great to network with. Matt and I got to meet Sandy Blanquera from Social Boomerang and the manager at the DEC facility. The DEC is a beatiful building and really screams opportunity for entrepreneurs in the Dublin area. They have four floors of offices, meeting space, labs, kitchens, reception areas, and lounges.

After hanging out at the DEC until almost 5:30pm, we headed out to the Positive Connections meetup at the Dublin Rec Center. This event had one of the best PC turnouts I have seen in a while. There was a lot of networking going on and probably well over 100 people in attendance throughout the entire event. Kudos to Randy Daniels on another job well done.

Jason Duff, owner of Community Storage & Properties, was nice enough to let us stay at his beautiful condominium in Dublin. Thanks Jason!

Overall a very succesful business trip. Lots of leads, lots of connections, and hopefully we can even try to help some other people that we had an opportunity to meet.
